Dedicated to helping individuals in Malaysia, HOPE Worldwide Malaysia was founded in 1996. To this end, the organization maintains a wide range of programs. Following are the three areas on which HOPE Malaysia focuses, along with a few of the programs in each area.
- Health and medical: HOPE Malaysia’s Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE in Kuala Lumpur has been around since 2000 and offers free medication and consultations to members of the community. Meanwhile, the Penang Free Pediatric Clinic, which was established in 2005, provides free medication, and the Penang Free Mobile Clinic, which was started in 2010, provides free services to isolated communities.
- Food and nutrition: The organization’s Food Distribution Program supports over 100 families every month by providing food necessities. After recognizing the great impact malnutrition had on individuals throughout the country, HOPE Malaysia established this program to prevent low quality of life and increased health risks in the community.
- Education: HOPE Malaysia offers a Creative Art Program that provides arts and crafts materials to children, a School Sponsorship Program that sponsors students and provides basic school supplies and uniforms, and a Football for HOPE Program that provides free training in football. Additionally, the organization maintains a MY Reading Program, through which underprivileged children are given the chance to learn English.
